Asset Tracker Dashboard

One view of 1,284 assets across five sites — age, cost, status and what's due for renewal. Built on a dummy register.

The problem

Asset records lived in five spreadsheets, one per site. Nobody could answer simple questions quickly: how old is our equipment, what will we need to replace this year, and where is the money going?

My approach

  1. Cleaned and merged the five registers in Power Query (fixed date formats, removed duplicate IDs).
  2. Added lifecycle stages from purchase date and useful life.
  3. Built a one-page Power BI report with drill-through by site and category.

Key insights

  • 1 in 5 assets is past its useful life

    Most of them are laptops at the branches. They still work, but repair tickets for this group are three times higher.

  • Renewals bunch up in Q3

    Spreading purchases across the year would smooth spend by about 30% and avoid a budget spike every September.

  • Two sites hold 60% of the value

    Riyadh HQ and Warehouse A carry most of the asset value, so audits there give the biggest return for the effort.

This is a sample project built on dummy data so the site has something to show. Replace it in Pages CMS with your own dashboard.

The interesting part was the cleaning, not the visuals: about a third of the time went into fixing dates written three different ways and asset IDs that were reused after disposal.
